Herve OBLIGI
Sculpteur lapidaire - Glypticien
At 40 years of age, already an experienced furniture restorer and stone sculptor, Herve Obligi received the prestigious “Grand Prix National des Métiers d’Art” (French national prize for artistic excellence), awarded by the French Ministry of Culture.
His creations include tables, fountain pens, portraits and even door handles, all made from precious or semi-precious stones.
He works with lapis-lazuli, jasper, agate, cornaline, rare varieties of quartz and marble, which he brings together to obtain almost a “painting” of the subject he wants to represent.
His talent finds its expression in different fields such as the restoration of furniture and other works of art, where he uses the techniques of the original artist and materials as diverse as wood (which he masters perfectly), hard stone and precious stones.
Hervé also creates unique, contemporary works of art designed to fit harmoniously into their environment.
